Children & Youth

Our hope in all that we do is that we can all, no matter what age, Grow in Discipleship, Build Community and Serve in the World.

The Young and Spiritual Growth

Children are welcomed with opportunities to learn from toddlers to high schoolers. We enjoy the participation of our young people in worship. We regularly have Children’s Messages in our morning worship, offer Children’s Activity Bulletins (in print and online), as well as have a “Kids’ Corner” space at the rear of the sanctuary. We are also open to children and youth to serve as Lay Readers (or even simply read the Scripture lesson.) Just sign up and let Pastor Cindy know of your interest. Maybe you/they play an instrument or want to bring special music in church. What about tech skills? We are willing to train our youth to help with projection, sound and streaming during worship.

Children can also participate in worship through our Children’s Choir and Children’s Bell Choir (if interested speak with Pastor Scott).

We currently are receiving applications for a Youth Leader to offer a group for older youth that meet a few times a month for a variety of activities and discussion.

We occasionally offer the intergenerational active worship of Messy Church

Nursery Available – We offer a safe, fun, staffed space in our Nursery during our morning worship service. This opportunity is for children, infants to age 5.

We build community by being together! We invite you to participate in various activities that CPUCC has for families. Children and youth can take advantage of playing with some new gaming systems, plus have fun outside with our new outdoor basketball hoop and balls. We invite you to join us for game nights, movie nights, our Music Festival, Blessing of the Animals, Trunk or Treat, and many, many more activities.

At CPUCC, we believe that we are called to service. There are many missions and outreach opportunities that our children and youth have the opportunity to participate in regularly — like Loose Change Sundays – and our Crosswalkers Sunday School class is planning some mini-missions as part of their program. We also have family opportunities at our church, like decorating and de-decorating the church for the holidays, volunteering at the Thrift Shoppe, and contributing to the Blessing Box. Along with the many other opportunities listed in our bulletin, including the annual area Crop Walk and Souper Bowl of Caring.

CPUCC is very family-friendly and we hope that you will join us in helping it to continue to be so – to Grow in Discipleship, to Build Community, and to Serve in the World as God calls us.

Sunday School Classes

We provide experiences for children and youth that allow them to learn about the Christian faith through traditional and innovative Christian Education programs. They learn about God’s love for them and about the Bible through age-appropriate activities that are designed to be interactive and participatory. Classes are offered on Sunday mornings from September through May at 11:00 am, following worship.

During the Sunday School year you can find Sunday School some updates from the teachers HERE

J.A.M. – Jesus and Me – Walkers through Kindergarten Class (Nursery on first floor)
Our time together includes prayers, songs, a lesson, and a craft or a game.

Crosswalkers – Children Grades 1 through 5 Class (Lower Level next to Youth Room)
This group has a story time lesson, arts and crafts, and a snack. This fall in Crosswalkers Sunday School (grades 1 – 5) we’ll be learning the Lord’s Prayer, working on mini mission projects, and will even have some time to play together with our new Nintendo Switch! The kids will have the chance to show off their new knowledge when we recite the Lord’s Prayer in church during Advent (Dec. 14).

Pathfinders

Youth Group – Middle School through High School Graduation (Youth Room on lower level)
Presently, the Pathfinders Sunday School class is led by Pastor Cindy. In 2025, we are exploring the Story of the Bible through various Bible stories, using the Youth Cartel’s “One Story – 32 Lessons” as a springboard for learning. You can learn more about the plan Here.

Summer camp for all ages is available in cooperation with The Lutheran Camping Corporation of Central Pennsylvania.

Half Day Play Preschool reaches out to those in
our community who are looking to have their children, ages 3 to 5, participate in organized learning and play activities in a safe, low coast environment. Scholarships are provided as necessary.

The mission of Half Day Play Preschool is to provide an experience promoting group interaction, parent involvement, creativity, and independence via a learning-through-play approach. Additionally, skills needed for success in school are addressed through learning the alphabet, and numbers and use of tools, etc.

You can find out more about Half Day Play Preschool Here or by calling Linda Bender, Director at 717-657-1540 or 717-545-3782.
