Governance & Structure

Get to know the Governing Body of CPUCC

Our Church Council (12-members) is comprised of an elected President and Vice President, a youth representative, and a representative from each of these teams (large leaves), with Operations having two representatives (Human Resources and Budget).

President - Thaddeus Sampson

The PRESIDENT, subject to Council, has general supervision of the affairs of the church. This officer presides at Council and Congregational meetings.

Vice-President - Sharon Clark

The VICE PRESIDENT serves in the absence of the President. This officer assumes duties assigned by the President.

Worship Deacon - Patricia Kishpaugh

WORSHIP is at the heart of what we do. Our worship is creative, meditative, contemporary, traditional, fun, reflective…always inspired.

The work of our WORSHIP TEAM includes the adornment, music, worship elements and themes, as well as child care, lay readers, ushers and greeters for Sunday mornings.

Service Deacon - Sue Graft

SERVICE is our expression of the second greatest commandment: “Love your neighbor as yourself.”

The work of our SERVICE TEAM includes “external mission” — raising funds, resources, and volunteers for various community partners as well as social justice work through raising awareness to needs in areas like poverty and homelessness, prison ministry and reform, discriminatory systems and our own biases, immigration and refugees.

Family Connections Deacon - Sue Duff
Community Connections Deacon - Rick Cochran

CONNECTIONS is a broad term to encompass the pulse of a relational God. From the beginning, He has chosen to be connected to humanity and shares that love by “the Word made flesh” through Jesus Christ.

Our CONNECTIONS TEAM works to strengthen relationships within the Church through care needs and prayer concerns, organizing gatherings, and maintaining records.

They also strengthen relationships within the community through following up with visitors, expanding our visible presence and communications in the community and connecting the congregation with other opportunities and needs in the surrounding area.

Spiritual Growth Deacon - Liz August

SPIRITUAL GROWTH may also be understood as Christian Education or Faith Formation, but it is more expansive than that.

We believe that learning and growing in our faith and discipleship is a life-long journey.

Our SPIRITUAL GROWTH TEAM oversees opportunities like Sunday School, Bible School, Messy Church, as well as offerings from our pastoral staff, like discussion groups, book studies, Bible Study, and more.

Facility Steward - Tom Feit

FACILITY is our building and grounds. We have been gifted and entrusted with an amazing building and property. For us, this includes a three-story building, a labyrinth, playground, and memorial garden.

Our FACILITY TEAM addresses maintenance issues as well as any capital improvements necessary to our building and grounds.

Generosity Steward - Cindy Gnech

GENEROSITY is what comes from our gratitude for God’s love. We know that Christianity calls us to follow Jesus’ example in caring for the poor, sharing our resources, and being good stewards of God’s provision.

Our GENEROSITY TEAM builds stewardship in our congregation, oversees special campaigns and fundraising opportunities, and seeks out grants for specific programs. Additionally, they help parishioners know of all of the ways they can share their time, talents and resources with their faith community and the wider church.

Youth Representative - McKenna Rhoads

The YOUTH REPRESENTATIVE to Council can provide input and can vote during Council meetings.

OPERATIONS consists of the fundamental administration and systems that are needed for any organization to be effective and healthy.

Our OPERATIONS TEAM develops and evaluates our human resources and budgets.
