Serving Locally

Service is our expression of Jesus’ second greatest commandment, “Love your neighbor as yourself.”  CPUCC reaches out in Christian love to our local Harrisburg community by raising needed resources and supplying volunteers.
Contact our Service Deacon if you need more information or wish to serve along with us.

Donate to the Blessing Box

Our Blessing Box is patterned on “give what you can, take what you need” and is a concrete expression of our desire to reach out in Christian love to those around us in need of non-perishable food, toiletries, and cleaning supplies. Donations may be placed in the Blessing Box directly or on the collection table in the hallway alcove.

Donate to the Ecumenical Food Pantry

The Ecumenical Food Pantry is located at the Messiah Lutheran Church in downtown Harrisburg and provides 3-day emergency food assistance to approximately 1000 people each month. Donated items may be placed in the grocery cart in Fellowship Hall.

Serve at Downtown Daily Bread

Downtown Daily Bread (DDB) offers basic services to hundreds of homeless and hungry individuals in Harrisburg, including a Soup Kitchen that provides daily lunches. We collect monetary donations in support of DDB and serve lunch there the 4th Thursday of every other month.

Deliver Meals on Wheels

CPUCC serves as a host spot for the daily 3-route program, plus we deliver meals to one route the third week of each month.

Support the Re-Entry Ministry of Keystone Correctional Services

Donations of toiletry and clothing items are accepted for men newly released from prison. We also work with the program to provide community service opportunities.

Help with the Foose We Care, We Share Books for Children Program

CPUCC provides volunteer readers and listeners to classes at Foose Elementary School in the Harrisburg School District. We also collect new and gently used books to give to the children at each visit.
Additional opportunities to serve occur throughout the year and include supporting Hope Springs Farm, the Central Dauphin Ram Foundation’s NutriPacks program, the Harrisburg CROP Walk, Bethesda Mission, Bethany Children’s Home, Hoffman Homes for Youth, and the UCC Homes.
