Larry Miller
Larry Miller joined CPUCC in February 2024. He is a husband, father, mechanical engineer, and deeply faithful man.
Larry grew up in nearby Myerstown and Little Kutztown. He attended Eastern Lebanon High School where he met his wife, Peggy. They married in 1970 and raised two daughters, Kristi and Kim. Kristi now makes her home in Rapid City, South Dakota while Kim resides in Shippensburg. The Millers are grandparents to two adult grandsons.
They have made their home in Union Township, Lebanon County since 1976. Peggy’s sister lives close by in Mechanicsburg.
A 1971 graduate of Penn State Harrisburg with a degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Larry went on to serve his country in the U.S. Coast Guard based at an air base in North Carolina.
Following his service, Larry went on to work for companies in Lebanon where they designed and built air pollution abatement systems for electric companies. He retired in 2012 after working for eight years as a system and network administrator for a medical billing company near Mt. Joy.
Reflecting on his Christian life, Larry recalls being confirmed as a member of Frieden’s Lutheran Church in Myerstown on Palm Sunday in 1963. During his college years, he was distanced from the church and then even more so during his service in the Coast Guard.
However, soon after his enlistment, the Millers began their family and the comfort and strength of the UCC faith drew their family back so that their daughters could be raised in the UCC faith.
Since joining CPUCC, Larry has already become an integral member of the choir and enjoys meeting members.
“I am emotionally and spiritually moved by the liturgy and music every Sunday I attend,” he said.
Larry keeps busy with cooking meals, home fix-up projects, lawn care during summer, and maintains a small garden in his backyard.
