Meet the Member – Priscilla Fledderjohn

Priscilla Fledderjohn

Priscilla Fledderjohn has deep roots at the Colonial Park United Church of Christ.

You see, she has generations of connections – five generations to be exact.

Priscilla’s grandparents were among the first members of the old church on Arlington Avenue back in 1925. Her mother was baptized, confirmed, and married at CPUCC. Priscilla was also

baptized, confirmed, and married here. Then we move on to her son, Bret, and then HIS son. You can see just how deep those roots are, building a strong foundation of love and faith.

Her sense of service in the church started when she was a young person. She worked alongside her grandmother and many other ladies working in the church kitchen.

“We served the famous chicken pot pie dinners,” she remembers. “They help to pay off the new church mortgage.

But all that cooking wasn’t the only way Priscilla served the church. She was on the original board establishing the Half Day Play program. She has served as a lay reader, as a member on the church council, and is now the head of the altar guild and the current financial secretary. She provides much appreciated assistance with the funeral luncheon committee and through her work in the Thrift Store.

A very special project Priscilla works on with Steve Burkholder is the maintenance of the Memorial Garden. The Garden is so meaningful to Priscilla because it is where her late husband, Ed, who she was married to for 58 years, and her mother are both buried.

Ed and Priscilla were true partners. Besides their life building a home and being parents, they worked together on many jobs. They managed Valley Green Golf Course, owned two Mail Boxes, Etc (now the UPS Stores), and Priscilla continued working in the banking industry after Ed retired.

“We loved our customers and always made friends along the way,” she said.

When Priscilla was asked about her thoughts on her many years of being a member at Colonial Park UCC, she paused to think.

“This church is a part of my being. People from the past and present have made me who I am,” she said. “I am so blessed to be part of this congregation.”

And we are blessed to have Priscilla in our CPUCC family.
